The winner of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize will be revealed shortly, with more than 250 candidates nominated for the award as it marks its 125th anniversary.
The recipient of what is widely regarded as the most prestigious award on the planet will be announced at 11am local time (10am BST) in Oslo, Norway.
Favourites and Contenders
While the list of nominees is a closely guarded secret, bookies say possible contenders this year include Pope Leo XIV, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, the International Space Station, emergency teams in Sudan, children's advocates in Ukraine and two top international courts.
US President Donald Trump has long coveted the prize and repeatedly said he deserves it, but he once again looks unlikely to get his hands on it.
125 Years of the Prize
This year marks the 125th anniversary of the prize, which has so far been awarded to 112 individuals and 28 separate institutions since its inception in 1901. The Red Cross has won three times and the UN refugee agency twice.
Women have accounted for just 20 of the 112 individual laureates. However, eight women have received the prize in the past 15 years.
