Liverpool's summer transfer activity is expected to intensify after the World Cup, with the club having made only one signing so far—Victor Munoz. Manager Andoni Iraola has expressed hopes for more additions as pre-season begins.
Bradley Barcola and Rayan Among Top Targets
Bradley Barcola remains the most prominent name linked with a move to Anfield, while Bournemouth youngster Rayan is also a reported target. Former England striker Alan Shearer believes Liverpool need to make 'two or three' big signings this summer, including a replacement for Mohamed Salah. 'Rayan obviously worked with Iraola last year and he's clearly going on to big things. That would be a big one for Liverpool,' Shearer said.
Szoboszlai Tipped for Captaincy
Dominik Szoboszlai has been backed to become Liverpool's next captain by former Reds goalkeeper David James. Szoboszlai recently signed a new long-term contract until 2031. 'He has definitely got the potential to be a future Liverpool captain,' James told Grosvenor Sport. 'Iraola has only signed for a couple of years, but if things go well, someone like Dominik would be that mainstay throughout his tenure.'
Klopp Close to Germany Job
Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is nearing an agreement to become Germany's national team manager, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann. 'Nothing has been finalised yet, but the talks have gone well, and everything is moving in the right direction,' Klopp said. He confirmed an arrangement with Red Bull, allowing him to take the role.
