Body Found in Search for Missing Lincoln Student

Police have discovered a body in the search for a missing University of Lincoln student who disappeared after a night out in the city centre.

Tragic Discovery in Water Search

Lincolnshire Police confirmed that a body was found during a search of Foss Bank, a body of water near the Brayford Pool area. Although formal identification is pending, officers believe it to be Connor Calleja, the 20-year-old student reported missing.

The young man was last captured on CCTV walking along University Bridge at 2.09am on Sunday, January 11. He had been out in Lincoln that night.

Heartbreaking Details of Last Movements

In an emotional social media post, Connor's stepfather, John Lewis, revealed that the student had been denied admission to the Home nightclub. He was attempting to make his way back to his university accommodation when he vanished.

An extensive search operation was launched, involving police and other emergency services, focusing on the waterways and areas around Brayford Pool.

Family Supported by Specialist Officers

Lincolnshire Police stated that Connor's family have been informed of the development and are being supported by specialist officers. The force emphasised that there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A police spokesperson added: 'We ask the public and members of the media to respect the family's privacy at this very difficult time. We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and those who contacted us to share information.'

The university community and local residents have been left deeply saddened by the news, with many paying tribute to the young student online.
