Three maths questions intended for primary school children have been leaving adults scratching their heads, according to reports. The problems, collated by education leader Chris Hogbin from 3P Learning in New South Wales, may look simple but have proven tricky for grown-ups.
The first problem is a calculation: 8 + 2 x 4 / 2. Experts say the key is solving it in the correct order, reading it as 8 + ((2 x 4) / 2).
The second question features a triangle divided into segments. People have reported seeing anywhere from four to 22 triangles within the image, with no consensus on the correct answer.
The third puzzle involves fruit equations. One sum shows cherries plus two bananas equals 20. By working backwards, the values are determined as apples equalling 20, bananas nine, and cherries two.
