Russian Strikes Kill 12 in Ukraine, Including Child

Russian forces launched a devastating series of overnight drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of at least twelve people, including a child, according to local authorities. The attacks targeted multiple cities, causing significant destruction and injuries.

Multiple Cities Struck in Coordinated Assault

The southern port city of Odesa suffered heavily, with six fatalities confirmed by Sergiy Lysak, the head of the city's military administration. He reported the casualties via Telegram on Thursday following missile and drone attacks that ravaged the area.

Capital Kyiv Endures Severe Damage

In the capital Kyiv, at least four people lost their lives, including a twelve-year-old child, as stated by Ukraine's state emergency service. Mayor Vitali Klitschko detailed that rescuers extracted a child from the rubble of a collapsed residential building in the Podilsky district. The assault wounded a minimum of ten individuals, several of whom were medical personnel.

Further chaos ensued in Kyiv's Obolonsky district, where missile debris ignited a blaze at a building and set cars ablaze. Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration, urgently advised civilians to seek shelter until missile alerts were officially lifted.

Central and Northeastern Regions Also Impacted

The central city of Dnipro recorded two additional deaths, as announced by Oleksandr Ganzha, the regional administration head. Earlier, Ganzha had noted that ten people were injured, including a forty-year-old woman hospitalized in serious condition; it remains unclear if she was among the deceased.

In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, a drone strike wounded a seventy-seven-year-old woman and a sixty-six-year-old man, according to Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the regional military administration, who communicated the incident on Telegram.

Escalation in Russian Striking Patterns

Moscow has intensified its aerial bombardment, firing hundreds of drones nearly every night since the conflict began four years ago and recently expanding these assaults to include daytime strikes. This latest wave of attacks underscores a brutal escalation in tactics, targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas.

The strikes have sparked widespread fires, including at a recycling site in Kyiv, highlighting the extensive damage to urban environments. Emergency services across Ukraine are grappling with the aftermath, working tirelessly to rescue survivors and extinguish flames.

As the war persists, these attacks signal a grim continuation of violence, with civilian casualties mounting and infrastructure suffering repeated blows. The international community watches closely as Ukraine endures this relentless pummeling from Russian forces.
