Police Swarm Leicester City Centre After Serious Early Morning Assault
Leicestershire Police have launched a major investigation following a serious assault in the heart of Leicester city centre. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, has left a man in his 20s with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to Horsefair Street at approximately 5am on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Upon arrival, they discovered a victim who had sustained significant harm. The man was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, where he remains as police continue their enquiries.
Roads Closed and Investigation Underway
In response to the serious attack, a significant police presence was established, and a cordon was put in place. This has led to the closure of roads, with no access to Halford Street from Horsefair Street.
Authorities have implemented a diversion route, directing all traffic from Horsefair Street to use Bowling Green Street instead. The scene remains active as forensic officers work to gather evidence.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police confirmed that no arrests have been made. They stated that it was reported a group of men had left the scene before officers arrived. The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to identify and locate the perpetrators.
Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Detective Sergeant Adrian Davies, from the force's Complex Investigation Team (CIT), is leading the appeal for information. He confirmed that officers spoke to several people at the scene but is urging others to come forward.
"I’m appealing for anyone who can help but has not yet spoken to us to come forward," DS Davies said. "I extend that appeal to anyone who has footage of the incident on a mobile phone or dashcam. Anything you’re able to tell us – no matter how insignificant you think it is – could assist our enquiries."
This violent incident has caused significant disruption in the city centre, and police are treating it with the utmost seriousness as the search for the attackers continues.
