A dangerous criminal who unleashed a wave of violence across London's transport network has been brought to justice after terrorising eighteen victims during a terrifying two-week crime spree.
The knifeman, identified as 34-year-old Damien Langan, targeted innocent passengers on both the Underground and bus systems, creating an atmosphere of fear among commuters. His rampage saw him brandishing a weapon while threatening and assaulting members of the public going about their daily lives.
A Trail of Terror Across the Capital
Langan's campaign of violence began in early September and spanned multiple boroughs across London. The Metropolitan Police described the incidents as "calculated and brutal attacks" that left victims traumatised and fearing for their safety on public transport.
Detective Inspector Sarah Phillips, who led the investigation, stated: "This was one of the most disturbing cases of transport-related violence we've seen in recent years. The defendant showed complete disregard for the safety and wellbeing of Londoners simply trying to travel around our city."
Victims Targeted in Broad Daylight
Among the eighteen victims were commuters, tourists, and elderly passengers who found themselves confronted by Langan's aggressive behaviour and visible weapon. One victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told authorities: "I've never been so frightened in my life. He appeared from nowhere with that knife and started shouting threats. I thought my time was up."

The Metropolitan Police launched an intensive manhunt following multiple reports of the knife-wielding assailant. CCTV from transport networks played a crucial role in identifying and tracking Langan's movements across the city.
Officers from the Transport Policing Command worked tirelessly to piece together the pattern of attacks, eventually apprehending the suspect at a North London bus station while he was allegedly preparing to strike again.
Justice Served at Wood Green Crown Court
Langan appeared at Wood Green Crown Court where he faced multiple charges including possession of an offensive weapon, actual bodily harm, and making threats to kill. The court heard how his actions had created widespread fear among London's travelling public during his fortnight of violence.
Judge Rebecca Maxwell condemned the defendant's actions, stating that such behaviour "strikes at the heart of public confidence in our transport system" and warranted a significant prison sentence.
