A 13-year-old boy was found injured on the train tracks at Homebush Station in Sydney's west on Thursday evening, causing widespread delays across the city's rail network during peak hour.
Police discovered the boy on the tracks around 5.30pm, and paramedics treated him for head injuries before he was taken to hospital. The police operation has since concluded.
The incident disrupted services on multiple lines, including the T1 North Shore and Western lines, T2 Inner West and Leppington line, T3 Bankstown line, T8 Airport line, and T9 Northern line. Buses were also affected, and passengers heading to the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, and Newcastle faced delays.
Sydney Trains advised commuters to allow extra travel time and check transport apps, information screens, and announcements. Some services on the T1 North Shore line were suspended, and trains between Flemington and Homebush stopped between stations for longer than usual.
