Clown Car Caper: Nine Suspects Pile Out for Daring Vape Shop Raid
In a scene more reminiscent of a circus act than a criminal operation, nine thieves were caught on camera performing an astonishing clown car routine before burgling a vape shop in Virginia. The bizarre incident, which occurred in the early hours of October 15, saw the large group file out of a single grey Hyundai Sonata, with two individuals even emerging from the boot.
The Brazen Break-In
According to reports from Fox 5, the masked group, all wearing hooded sweatshirts, targeted the Accolades Vapes and Tobacco Shop in Warrenton at approximately 3:30 a.m.. To gain entry, the thieves shattered a window and pushed past a temporary wall blocking it. Once inside, they embarked on a systematic looting spree.
The stolen merchandise was eclectic and valuable. The haul included 15 pairs of Nike Air Jordan sneakers, various clothing items, water pipes, vapes, Pokémon trading cards, and the shop's cash register. The total value of the stolen goods was estimated by the shop's owner to be around $13,000 (approximately £10,500).
A Devastating Blow for the Business
In a crushing follow-up to the theft, the owner revealed that the significant loss would not be covered by insurance. He explained the difficulties faced by those in the vape industry, stating, "It’s just a very tough situation... insurance [companies] are a little finicky with that, so what happens is you just have to take the loss."
Despite the setback, the owner expressed gratitude for the support from the local community in Fauquier County, located about 55 miles from Washington, D.C., and praised the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office for their assistance. His message to the thieves was succinct and poignant: "Do better."
Ongoing Investigation and Wider Concerns
Authorities are now hunting for the nine suspects and believe the same crew may be responsible for other burglaries in the area. The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office is encouraging anyone with information about the identities of the individuals seen in the surreal surveillance footage to come forward.
