Russian drone and missile strikes on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro killed at least three people and wounded 21 others, local authorities reported on Saturday. The bodies of the three victims were discovered in the ruins of a house destroyed during the overnight attacks, according to Dnipropetrovsk regional head Oleksandr Ganzha. He added that more people might still be trapped under the debris.
Details of the Attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Saturday that 11 people were hospitalized in Dnipro following the Russian assault. Ganzha wrote on Telegram that "the Russians have been hitting Dnipro and other cities and communities practically all night," causing fires across the city and partially destroying several apartment buildings, businesses, and a private residence.
In the southwestern Odesa region, two people were wounded in overnight drone attacks. Regional head Oleh Kiper reported damage to residential buildings, port infrastructure, and cars in the southern part of the region.
Cross-Border Attacks and Prisoner Swap
In Russia, a woman was killed and a man seriously wounded by a drone strike in the border region of Belgorod, local officials said. These attacks followed a prisoner exchange on Friday, in which Russia and Ukraine swapped 193 service members each. Periodic prisoner swaps have been one of the few positive outcomes of otherwise fruitless U.S.-brokered negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, which have been ongoing for months. The talks have made no progress on key issues that could end Russia's invasion of Ukraine, now in its fifth year.
