Babysitter's Tattoo Leads to Arrest in Toddler Sexual Abuse Case
Tattoo Leads to Arrest in Toddler Abuse Case

An explicit tattoo on a babysitter's inner thigh helped police identify her in a Snapchat video where she allegedly sexually abused a two-year-old, according to court documents. Victoria Cranmer, 25, from New Jersey, was arrested last week and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, manufacturing child sexual abuse material, and possession of child sexual abuse material.

Distinctive Tattoo Leads to Identification

Cranmer had a set of breasts inked on her leg, which was visible in the social media video. The investigation began on May 20 after a mother, referred to as Ms P in court documents, reported discovering a video on an iPhone that previously belonged to Cranmer. In the brief clip, which allegedly depicts inappropriate contact between an adult woman and a child, Cranmer was identified by her distinctive tattoos, including "boobs, a lightning bolt and a mushroom," according to police.

Details of the Alleged Abuse

Cranmer is reported to have lived in Ms P's home and regularly babysat her child, as well as the son of another local woman, Ms H. Upon discovering the video, Ms P handed the device to police, who obtained a search warrant and found several other Snapchat videos of Cranmer with the child. In one video, a woman alleged to be Cranmer is seen sitting on a toilet with her genitals exposed while a child touches her intimately. At least one video had been posted to Snapchat, according to New Jersey 101.5.

Arrest and Charges

Ms H alerted police that her young son's behavior had changed after being cared for by Cranmer, including developing an aversion to baths. Following these allegations, Cranmer was arrested and taken to Ocean County Jail in Toms River, New Jersey. At a bail hearing, Cranmer wept as Ocean County Judge Kenneth Palmer ruled she must remain behind bars while the "bizarre" and "troubling" incident is investigated further.

Defense Claims Innocent Moment

Cranmer's lawyer, Marissa Koerner, maintains the 14-second Snapchat video depicted an "innocent moment," not a criminal act. "Anyone who has spent time caring for young children understands that children often have little appreciation for personal space or privacy," Koerner stated. Cranmer faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, manufacturing child sexual abuse material, and possession of child sexual abuse material.
