Trailer Park Boys Actor Faces Serious Allegation

Mike Smith, the actor best known for portraying the beloved character Bubbles in the cult comedy series Trailer Park Boys, has been formally charged with sexual assault. The charge relates to an alleged incident that is reported to have occurred in 2017.

Legal Proceedings and Company Response

According to reports from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Smith was charged earlier this month in Halifax. The court has imposed strict conditions, ordering the actor not to contact the alleged victim or approach their home, school, or workplace.

In response to the developing situation, Trailer Park Boys Inc. confirmed that Mike Smith has voluntarily stepped away from his position as managing director. The company issued a formal statement, saying: 'We are aware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously.'

The statement continued, 'We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.'

History of Legal Issues for the Actor

This is not the first time Mike Smith has faced legal trouble. In 2016, he was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of misdemeanour domestic battery following an alleged altercation with a woman at a Hollywood hotel.

Police records indicate he was booked and later released on $20,000 bail. The woman involved, Georgia Ling, publicly stated that the situation was a misunderstanding and that she did not feel in danger.

Smith denied any wrongdoing at the time, characterising the event as a 'loud and heated dispute' with a friend. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office subsequently dropped the charges, closing the case.

Mike Smith played the iconic role of Bubbles in 116 episodes of Trailer Park Boys, a show that first aired in 2001 and ran until 2007, garnering a dedicated global fanbase.
