Mystery of the Great Lakes: How a Missing Man's Body Was Found 300 Miles Away
Missing man's body found 300 miles from disappearance site

In a case that has left investigators puzzled, the body of a man reported missing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was discovered months later in Lake Michigan—nearly 300 miles away in Michigan City, Indiana.

Eric Robinson, 32, vanished on 11 February after leaving a friend's house in Milwaukee. Despite extensive searches, no trace of him was found until 30 June, when his remains washed ashore near Michigan City.

An Unprecedented Drift

Experts say the distance the body travelled is highly unusual. "For remains to move that far in Lake Michigan is exceptionally rare," said Dr. Sarah Whitman, a forensic oceanographer. "The lake's currents are complex, but this case is unprecedented."

Family Seeks Answers

Robinson's family, while relieved his body has been recovered, are desperate for answers. "We need to know how this happened," said his sister, Alicia Robinson. "Eric was a strong swimmer—this doesn't make sense."

Authorities have not ruled out foul play but emphasise that no evidence suggests criminal involvement at this stage. The case remains under investigation.
