Teen Inmate Dies at Feltham After Alleged Beating

A 16-year-old inmate has died at Feltham Young Offenders' Institute in London, prompting a police investigation. The boy was found unresponsive in his cell on Monday evening and was pronounced dead in hospital two hours later.

Scotland Yard confirmed that the death is being treated as unexpected. Paramedics were called at around 21:30 BST on 20 April, and the teenager was taken to hospital, where he died at 23:43. A post-mortem examination will be conducted.

Feltham has been described as the most violent young offenders' institution in the country, according to watchdogs in 2024. Despite an urgent notification from the Prisons Inspectorate in 2019, a follow-up inspection found violence levels remained high.
