A North Carolina woman has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly beating her 93-year-old husband to death with a vase in the middle of the night.
Incident Details
Yorleni Shoff, 58, is accused of attacking her husband, Richard Shoff, around 2 a.m. on April 9 at their home in Salisbury. Deputies responding to the scene found Richard Shoff unresponsive with significant bleeding. He succumbed to his injuries nine days later on April 18.
Arrest and Charges
Initially charged with assault, Yorleni Shoff's charge was upgraded to first-degree murder following her husband's death. She was arrested without incident on April 21 at a hotel in Salisbury. A broken vase, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the residence.
Yorleni Shoff is being held without bond at the Rowan County Detention Center. Her first court appearance for the murder charge took place on April 22.
