Two Men Arrested Following Cincinnati Nightclub Shooting That Injured Nine
Police in Cincinnati have announced the arrest of two men in connection with a weekend shooting inside a nightclub that left nine people wounded. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, has prompted a multi-agency investigation.
Arrests Made in Connection with Violent Incident
Franeek Cobb, 24, and Derrick Long, 29, were taken into custody on Monday facing charges of felonious assault, according to the Cincinnati Police Department. As of Tuesday morning, no attorneys had been listed for either suspect in court records.
The shooting unfolded around 1 a.m. on Sunday inside Riverfront Live, a venue located along the Ohio River in the city's east end. Officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered nine individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Victims in Stable Condition Following Hospital Treatment
All nine victims were transported to area hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition, officials confirmed. Police have not publicly discussed a potential motive for the shooting or released specific details about what precipitated the violence.
The Cincinnati Police Department's homicide unit is leading the investigation, with assistance from the FBI. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had previously offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification of suspects.
Shooting Erupted During Birthday Celebration
The gunfire erupted during a birthday celebration hosted by Jermaine Tandy, also known as DJ Fresh, according to a post on his Facebook page. Management representing Tandy issued a statement expressing devastation over the violence, describing it as a "senseless act."
Witness Anton Canady told The Associated Press he initially heard what sounded like a fight before shots rang out. As patrons rushed toward the exits, Canady's girlfriend fell, prompting him to shield her from being trampled.
"I don't think it was like they was doing it purposely or intentionally, I just think nobody wanted to die in there," Canady recounted.
Witness Describes Chaotic Scene and Personal Connection
After reaching safety outside, Canady learned his cousin was among those shot. He used cloth from a nearby vehicle to apply pressure to her wounds until emergency responders arrived. He later spoke with his cousin, reporting she was "doing good" but remained in shock from the traumatic experience.
Though the Cincinnati shooting occurred almost simultaneously with a deadly bar shooting in Austin, Texas, an ATF spokesperson clarified earlier this week that the Ohio incident was not believed to be an act of terrorism.

Riverfront Live occupies a property along the Ohio River, not far from the popular Riverbend Music Center, which remains closed during winter months. The location has operated under various names including Stage Forty-Three and Inner Circle, but is perhaps best remembered as the former site of Annie's, an iconic rock club that hosted prominent rock and heavy metal acts during the 1990s and early 2000s.
The venue was rebranded as Riverfront Live in 2018 after gaining attention for previous criminal activity at the location. The investigation into Sunday's shooting continues as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the violent incident.
