A tragic shooting at a house party in Amarillo, Texas, has left two people dead and at least eight others injured. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday at the Westminster Apartments on Coulter Street, according to the Amarillo Police Department.
Details of the Incident
The party was attended by juveniles and young adults. Police reported that the altercation began after several individuals were asked to leave the party. These individuals then followed other partygoers to a different location, where they attempted to enter an apartment. Using a rifle-style weapon, they opened fire, striking multiple people.
Casualties and Response
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another died at the hospital. Eight other individuals were taken to local hospitals in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the shooting and have not yet released the identities of the victims or suspects.

Steve Douglass, a reporter for ABC 7 who lives near the scene, described the sound of gunfire as resembling machine gun fire. He noted that the rapid succession of shots was alarming and unlike typical gunfire in the area.
