Teen Dies After Being Hit by Falling Tree in Stafford

A teenage boy has tragically died after being struck by a falling tree in Stafford, Staffordshire Police have confirmed.

Emergency services, including police, paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service, and the Midlands Air Ambulance, were dispatched to Holmcroft Road in Stafford at approximately 6:30pm on Saturday.

A police spokesperson stated: “A teenage boy has sadly died after being injured by a fallen tree in Stafford. Tragically, nothing could be done to save him. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7:30pm. His next of kin have been informed.”

On Sunday, police urged the public to avoid the area as a large cordon remains in place while investigations continue.

The Stafford & District Sunday Football League Facebook group announced that all Sunday matches would observe a one-minute silence before kick-off in memory of the boy.

Prayers were offered at St Bertelin’s Church in Stafford “for the young man, for his family, and for all who knew and loved him.” The church posted on Facebook that it would remain open for anyone wishing to light a candle or leave flowers. Ribbons are being tied to a wooden cross at the side of the church as a tribute.
