Neville Lawrence, the father of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence, has shared his profound sorrow and the one thing he would change if he could turn back time. Speaking candidly, he reflected on the tragic events that unfolded over three decades ago.
Stephen, an 18-year-old aspiring architect, was brutally killed in a racially motivated attack in Eltham, southeast London, in April 1993. His death sparked nationwide outrage and led to significant changes in UK policing and race relations.
"If I could change one thing, it would be to have been there for him that night," Neville confessed. "Maybe if I had picked him up, things would have been different."
The case became a landmark moment in British legal history, exposing institutional racism within the Metropolitan Police. Despite multiple suspects, only two of Stephen's killers have ever been convicted.
Neville's emotional revelations come as the family continues to campaign for justice, ensuring Stephen's legacy endures. "We will never stop fighting for him," he vowed.
