A stadium employee at Kansas City's GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium has described the terrifying moment he was subjected of a savage and unprovoked beating, an attack so severe he genuinely believed he would not survive.
In his first interview since the horrific incident, the worker, who has chosen to remain anonymous due to ongoing fears for his safety, recounted the details of the assault that has left him both physically injured and psychologically scarred.
'I was just doing my job,' the victim stated, his voice trembling with emotion. 'He came out of nowhere. I didn't have time to react. The punches just kept coming. I remember thinking, 'This is it, I'm going to die right here.''
The attack, which occurred within the stadium complex, has sent shockwaves through the community and raised serious questions about security protocols for staff at the major sporting venue. The assailant, who was reportedly a visitor to the stadium, was eventually detained.
A Community in Shock
Colleagues and union representatives have expressed their outrage and solidarity with the victim. The incident has highlighted the vulnerabilities faced by staff who work behind the scenes to ensure events run smoothly.
Local authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway and that a suspect is facing serious charges. However, for the victim, the trauma continues long after the physical wounds have begun to heal.
'You don't expect to go to work and fear for your life,' he added, emphasising the long road to recovery that lies ahead, both mentally and physically.
