Thames Valley Police have launched an urgent appeal to locate three members of the public who assisted a teenage girl after she was raped by two men in Reading on Saturday night.
Disturbing Attack on Oxford Road
The horrific incident began when the victim was walking along Oxford Road in Reading after 10pm on Saturday evening. She was approached by two men who attempted to engage her in conversation.
The teenager and the two offenders then walked to nearby Prince of Wales Avenue, where the sexual assault took place. Police have confirmed the rape occurred at this location, though specific details about the attackers remain under investigation.
Good Samaritans Intervene
Following the attack, three members of the public came to the victim's assistance in what police are describing as acts of remarkable bravery and compassion.
Around 10:25pm on Prince of Wales Avenue, two males believed to be teenage boys intervened directly with the offenders. According to police reports, an altercation took place between the Good Samaritans and the attackers.
Shortly after this confrontation, the victim made her way to Elm Park Road, where a black woman provided crucial assistance and comfort to the distressed teenager.
Police Investigation Intensifies
Detective Inspector Sukhveer Sokhi, the investigating officer, has made a direct appeal to the three individuals to come forward, emphasising that their evidence could prove vital to the investigation.
"I appreciate that this offence will cause concern in the local community," stated DI Sokhi. "I can reassure local residents that Thames Valley Police is conducting a thorough investigation."
Police have confirmed that officers are currently conducting house-to-house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage from the area. The force has established a dedicated reference number - 43250584676 - for anyone with information to quote when contacting them.
Investigators believe the three Good Samaritans may have witnessed crucial details or heard important information that could help identify the perpetrators.
