A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to sell a government phone that belonged to Morgan McSweeney, the former chief of staff to Sir Keir Starmer, following its theft. The 28-year-old individual was taken into custody last Wednesday in Peckham on allegations of handling stolen goods. He has since been released on bail by the Metropolitan Police.
The suspect is believed to have received the phone after it was stolen and then tried to sell it, though authorities do not think he was involved in the original theft. The device, which has not yet been recovered, was stolen on 20 October last year from Belgrave Road in Pimlico.
