Man Admits Assaulting Woman Drugged and Raped by Ex-Husband

Dean Hamilton, 47, has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman who was also subjected to years of drugging and rape by her former husband, according to police statements. The case, heard at Winchester Crown Court, involves Joanne Young, 48, who has waived her right to anonymity, allowing her name to be disclosed in connection with the proceedings.

Court Proceedings and Charges

Hamilton, from Compton Dundon in Somerset, admitted to one count of rape, one count of assault by penetration, and two counts of sexual assault against Joanne Young during a court appearance on Friday. He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date, as confirmed by Wiltshire Police in an official statement.

This development follows last month's guilty plea by Philip Young, 49, a former Conservative councillor for Swindon, who admitted to nearly 50 offences involving drugging, raping, and sexually assaulting his ex-wife. The case has drawn significant attention due to the severity of the charges and the political background of one of the defendants.

Other Defendants and Trial Details

Four other individuals have pleaded not guilty to various sexual offences against Joanne Young, including rape and sexual assault. These defendants are Connor Sanderson Doyle, 31, from Swindon; Norman Macksoni, 47, from Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire; Richard Wilkins, 61, from Toothill, Swindon; and Mohammed Hassan, 37, from Swindon. Their charges range from sexual assault to possession of extreme pornographic images.

Philip Young has also pleaded not guilty to additional charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children, one count of possession of prohibited images, and four counts of possessing extreme pornographic images. All five defendants are set to face trial at Winchester Crown Court in October, where the full extent of the allegations will be examined.

Police Appeal and Background Information

In a related appeal, police are seeking help to identify another man wanted in connection with the case. He is described as having a large build, scarring on the back of his head, and a distinctive tattoo on the left side of his chest. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Philip Young, born in Enfield, north London in June 1976, graduated from the University of Westminster in 1998. He served as a Conservative councillor on Swindon Borough Council from 2007 to 2010. During his tenure, he resigned as the cabinet member for culture, regeneration, and economic development on May 6, 2010, citing a desire to devote more time to his family and run his own business. In a statement to the Swindon Advertiser at the time, he expressed concerns about balancing priorities, stating, "Trying to juggle all of that, family and work, I don't think it is fair on my family to put them bottom of that priority list."

Young gained local media attention in September 2009 after delivering his son when his wife went into labour at their family home. Since 2010, he has been involved in various business ventures, most recently serving as the chief operating officer at Pracedo, a consultancy firm. The case continues to unfold as legal proceedings advance, highlighting issues of sexual violence and accountability in the community.
