Homicide detectives have launched an investigation after a 41-year-old man was discovered deceased at a property in Geelong, just days after he was treated in hospital for injuries believed to be from an assault.
Timeline of a Tragedy
The man was initially rushed to hospital on Monday, following an incident that left him with what Victoria Police described as 'assault-related' injuries. However, he later discharged himself from medical care of his own accord.
Officers subsequently attended an address on Robin Avenue in the northern Geelong suburb of Norlane at approximately 5.30pm on Thursday. It was there they made the grim discovery of the man's body inside the home.
Police Appeal for Information
The exact circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear and are now the subject of an active investigation by specialist homicide detectives. Police have stated that the man's death is being treated as suspicious.
Authorities are urgently appealing to the public for assistance. They are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any relevant events, or who may have dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the Robin Avenue area or surrounding streets in Norlane between Monday and Thursday.
Community Urged to Come Forward
"The investigation is in its early stages, and we are working to piece together the full sequence of events," a police spokesperson said. "We believe there are people in the community who have information that could be vital."
Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is strongly urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously. The appeal underscores the critical role public cooperation plays in solving such cases.
The quiet suburban street in Norlane has been cordoned off as forensic officers continue their examination of the scene, leaving the local community in shock.
