The father of a young film student stabbed to death in a popular London park has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his "beautiful, lovely, outgoing, loving" son, describing the incident as the worst tragedy he could ever imagine.
A Promising Life Cut Short
Finbar Sullivan, aged just 21, was fatally stabbed during a fight in Primrose Hill, north London, on Tuesday evening. Emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene, despite attempts at resuscitation.
His father, Christopher Sullivan, a musician and founder of the 1980s band Blue Rondo à la Turk, revealed his son had gone to the renowned beauty spot to test a new camera he had received for his recent 21st birthday.
"He Can Never Be Replaced"
"This is the worst tragedy I could ever imagine," said the 65-year-old father. "He's my only son... I had him when I was 45. He can never be replaced. He'd just bought a new camera, we all chipped in for his 21st birthday, and he took it up there to do a bit of filming."
The grieving father described rushing to Primrose Hill after receiving the devastating call around 6 PM, only to be prevented from entering the cordoned-off crime scene. By that time, his son had already received twenty minutes of CPR but had tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Aspiring Cameraman with Family Legacy
Finbar Sullivan was a student at the London Screen Academy with aspirations to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. His grandfather, Michael Seresin, worked as a cinematographer on major films including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Rambo III.
Under the professional name Sully Shot It, the young student had reportedly produced music videos for drill rap artists, showcasing his growing talent and passion for filmmaking.
Mystery Surrounding the Attack
Christopher Sullivan expressed complete bewilderment about why his son was targeted, emphasizing that Finbar was not involved in gang activity. "All I can tell you is he was the subject of an indiscriminate stabbing. He was not a gang member," he stated. "He was just a little groovy 21-year-old who loved movies and making films. He didn't drink, he didn't smoke, he didn't go out."
The father expressed particular shock that such violence occurred in Primrose Hill, comparing it to Hyde Park as a place where one wouldn't expect such tragedies. "It's Primrose Hill, for God's sake... it's like Hyde Park. It's not somewhere you expect this," he lamented.
Police Investigation Ongoing
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed they are investigating the stabbing and have appealed to the public for assistance. Authorities have urged anyone with information, including photos or videos that might be circulating online, to come forward to aid their investigation into this senseless act of violence.
As the community reels from this shocking incident in one of London's most picturesque locations, a family mourns a young life filled with promise, cut devastatingly short in its prime.
