Dorset Rave Chaos as Riot Police Attacked with Missiles in Horror Violence
Dorset Police have reported a severe outbreak of violence against officers at an illegal rave near East Lulworth, which drew approximately 2,000 attendees and over 100 vehicles on Saturday. This incident represents a significant breach of public order, with authorities condemning the aggressive behaviour directed at law enforcement personnel.
Violent Confrontation and Police Response
Officers equipped in full riot gear were subjected to a barrage of missiles and encountered what was described as a violent and hostile reception from the crowd. The police were initially alerted to the event around 11.45pm on Saturday and maintained a presence throughout the weekend to ensure the gathering reached a safe conclusion. During their operations, ten individuals were arrested on charges including driving under the influence and assaulting emergency workers.
In addition to the arrests, authorities seized sound equipment and other items under Section 64 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, which grants powers to prevent and disrupt unlawful assemblies. The scale of the event, with its large turnout and numerous vehicles, posed substantial challenges for local law enforcement, highlighting the risks associated with such illegal gatherings.
Official Condemnation and Ongoing Investigations
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Lyne issued a strong statement regarding the incident, emphasising that violence in our communities and against our officers will not be tolerated. He noted that these types of events are not only illegal but also cause significant disruption to local residents and public safety. Lyne expressed concern over the unacceptable attacks faced by police while performing their duties to protect the community.
The police force is now conducting a thorough review of evidence collected from the scene to identify any further offences committed during the rave. Detailed enquiries will be carried out to hold those responsible accountable, with a focus on preventing similar incidents in the future. This response underscores the ongoing efforts to combat illegal raves and maintain order in rural and urban areas alike.
The incident near East Lulworth serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by large-scale unlawful events, particularly when they escalate into violence against emergency responders. Authorities urge the public to report any suspicious activities and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure community safety.
