Police Hunt Two Brothers After Father Stabbed to Death on Christmas Day
Brothers hunted over Christmas Day murder in Wolverhampton

Police have launched a major manhunt for two brothers following the fatal stabbing of a 'loving' father-of-two in the early hours of Christmas Day.

A Tragic Christmas Morning

Trey Johnson, aged 30, was discovered with fatal stab wounds on Burcot Avenue in Wolverhampton at approximately 3:30am on 25 December. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Mr Johnson was pronounced dead where he lay.

Residents in the area reported being woken by the sound of sirens piercing the night, followed by detectives conducting door-to-door enquiries as part of the murder investigation.

Appeal to Trace Wanted Brothers

West Midlands Police have named two men they urgently wish to trace in connection with the killing. They are brothers Tiego Beckles, aged 20, and Richard Beckles, aged 19. Detectives state that despite several attempts to locate them, the pair remain at large.

Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell, from the force's Homicide unit, issued a direct appeal: 'Tiego and Richard Beckles will know that they are wanted, and I’d urge them to do the right thing and hand themselves in to police, before we find them.'

She also issued a stark warning to anyone potentially aiding the brothers: 'If anyone is helping them evade arrest, they should know that they will also face arrest.'

A Family's Heartbreaking Tribute

Mr Johnson's grieving family released a poignant tribute to him, describing a man whose presence lit up a room. They said: 'Trey is a person that would do anything for anyone. His smile, his love and his energy is infectious.'

They emphasised his role as a devoted family man, stating: 'He was a loving father of two. He was a good man, a good son, that did everything and more for his family.' The family added they are 'very proud' of Trey and that he will be 'missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him.'

Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal

In the immediate aftermath of the murder, two other men, aged 35 and 58, were arrested. Both have since been released with no further action. Separately, a 42-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday 28 December on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been released on bail pending further investigations.

Det Insp Cordell has urged the public to come forward with any information, no matter how small it may seem. She assured: 'Information will be treated in the strictest of confidence.'

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police urgently on 101, or via the Live Chat on their website, quoting log number 481 of 25 December.
