Bristol Blast Deaths: Police Treat as Homicide

Police are treating the death of a woman who was killed in an explosion alongside a man at her home as a homicide, authorities have confirmed.

Victims Identified

Jo Shaw, 35, died in the blast at a house in Bristol on Sunday morning. Her former partner, Ryan Kelly, 41, also suffered fatal injuries during the incident. Avon and Somerset Police have stated that a referral will be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to previously reported domestic-related incidents involving the pair.

Investigation Details

Three other individuals, including a child, sustained minor injuries during the explosion at the property on Sterncourt Road. Superintendent Matt Ebbs provided an update on the investigation, saying: "Jo's death has been officially recorded as a homicide based on the information known to us at this time. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death."

He added: "We would like to reassure the public there is not believed to be any wider risk to safety and this is not being treated as terrorism-related. As previously stated, we believe the cause of the explosion to be deliberate. Analysis work of the explosive device has not yet been completed."

Police Response

Emergency services attended the scene on Sunday morning, and the area was cordoned off for investigation. The police have emphasized that they are not seeking any other suspects and that the incident appears to be isolated. The referral to the police watchdog will examine previous interactions between the victims and law enforcement.
