Brisbane Woman Recalls Terrifying Knifepoint Home Invasion by Armed Gang
A Brisbane woman has recounted the terrifying moment she was held at knifepoint while four armed men ransacked her family home in a violent early morning invasion. Elena Parolin and her husband were abruptly awakened by a loud bang at approximately 5:20 am on Monday in their Rochedale South residence.
Chaotic and Frightening Confrontation
Upon venturing downstairs, the couple discovered a group of masked intruders armed with weapons, frantically rifling through their personal belongings. Mrs Parolin immediately sprang into action, shouting at the men to leave her property. However, the situation rapidly escalated into a life-threatening ordeal.
Chilling security footage obtained by the Courier Mail captured one of the assailants demanding another to "get the gun," while a separate voice urged, "Shoot her, shoot her." Fearing for her life, Mrs Parolin began screaming and retreated to her bedroom, using her body weight to barricade the door due to the absence of a lock.
Violent Demands and Physical Assault
The armed men continued their rampage downstairs before storming upstairs, where the leader pressed a knife against Mrs Parolin's throat and demanded to know where the money was. When she insisted she had no cash, the intruders became increasingly agitated.
"I was trying to keep him at arm's length because he had this knife at my throat and he just kept screaming at me," she recounted. "I thought they've got a gun, this is it, we're done, we're sitting ducks, we've got nowhere to get out."
During the confrontation, Mrs Parolin was backed into a walk-in wardrobe, separating her from her husband. When she threatened to call the police, one of the men knocked the phone from her hand, breaking one of her fingers in the process. The assailants subsequently fled the scene.
Shocking Repeat Targeting and Police Appeal
In a disturbing revelation, Mrs Parolin disclosed that this was the second time in just six months that their home had been targeted by thieves, compounding the trauma of the experience. Queensland Police have confirmed that investigations into the home invasion are actively ongoing.
Detectives believe a vehicle involved in the incident may be connected to other property offences across greater South Brisbane. Authorities are urgently appealing to the public for any relevant vision or information that could assist in identifying the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
