A California man who had just proposed to his girlfriend died in a motorcycle crash hours later, according to reports. Noah Jacobus, 25, and his fiancée, Molly Wiseman, were riding their motorcycles to their engagement dinner when Jacobus lost control and fatally struck a mailbox, Wiseman told KCRA.
Engagement and Tragedy
The couple had gotten engaged just hours before the accident. 'We were going to announce our engagement,' Wiseman said. The pair met at a bike meet-up in Sacramento in January and quickly fell in love, spending every day together. 'Locked at the hip from then on,' she recalled.
Career Milestones
In addition to his engagement, Jacobus had recently been offered a permanent position with the National Guard, a goal he had pursued for months. 'He was so excited about that,' Wiseman said through tears. 'It's just not fair.' She added, 'It was just cut too short. He might have just been too good for this place, but we just didn't get enough time.'
Investigation Underway
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash on Oak Avenue in Orangevale. Officials are looking into whether another vehicle was involved. CHP declined to comment due to the ongoing investigation and 'conflicting witness information.' It is unclear if the couple were riding the same bike or separate ones.
Jacobus worked as a fire support specialist for the National Guard and previously served in the Army from June 2019 to December 2022, according to his LinkedIn. Friends and family remembered him as a 'damn good man' who was 'very loved.'
On Instagram, Wiseman called Jacobus the 'love of my life.' 'I miss you so much. He was everything to me, and I miss him so much. He will never be forgotten. He was an incredible person, son, brother and fiancé. I will do everything to bring justice to the person that did this to us,' she wrote.
