CCTV Shows Headbutt in Airport Starbucks Before Police Assault Trial

CCTV footage shown to a jury at Liverpool Crown Court has captured the moment Mohammed Fahir Amaaz allegedly headbutted a fellow passenger in a Starbucks at Manchester Airport, sparking a chain of events that led to an assault on police officers.

The incident on July 23 last year began when Amaaz, 20, and his brother Muhammad Amaad, 26, confronted Abdulkareem Ismaeil in the coffee shop. The prosecution says the brothers had travelled to the airport to collect their mother, who had been on the same flight as Mr Ismaeil and his family. The mother pointed out Mr Ismaeil to her sons, leading to the confrontation.

Jurors saw footage of Amaaz, wearing a blue hooded jacket, headbutting Mr Ismaeil in the face and punching him in front of children. Starbucks duty manager Cameron Cartledge described the headbutt as 'very forceful' and said he called police immediately. He told the court he heard raised voices in what he believed was Arabic, not English.

The brothers are also accused of assaulting police officers who arrived to arrest Amaaz, leaving one officer with a broken nose. The trial continues.
