Ohio 'House of Horrors' Suspect Hospitalized, Released

Gary Siders Sr, one of the suspects in the horrific child neglect case where 16 children were found in a squalid Ohio home, has been rushed to hospital after an incident in prison. He was subsequently released from police custody to avoid medical costs that would have bankrupted the county.

Suspect Hospitalized After Prison Fall

According to Vinton County Prosecutor William Archer, Siders Sr fell in prison and was taken to OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital in Athens. The incident forced authorities to release him, as paying for his medical expenses could have financially devastated the county.

Bond Modified to Recognizance

Judge Laina Rogers approved changing Siders Sr's $300,000 cash bond to a $300,000 recognizance bond, meaning he is not required to pay the amount upfront. The decision was made to mitigate the county's financial burden.

Officials previously stated that livestock lived in better conditions than the 16 children, who were found mute and severely neglected. The case has drawn national attention to the deplorable conditions in the home, often referred to as a 'house of horrors.'

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation continues, with authorities examining the full extent of the neglect. Siders Sr was arrested alongside his wife, son, and daughter-in-law. Further updates are expected as the legal proceedings unfold.
