Emmerdale actress Jaye Griffiths became emotional during a powerful appearance on Thursday's edition of Loose Women, where she bravely detailed the abuse she suffered from a violent former partner.
Emotional Television Appearance
The television star, who currently plays villainous farmer Celia Daniels on the popular ITV soap, broke down in tears as she described her traumatic experiences. Griffiths revealed that she has only recently begun speaking about her dark past and found the process both emotional and liberating.
"Once I started talking about it, I couldn't stop," the actress shared with the Loose Women panel. "I rarely think about it but I just feel so sorry for her. And sad that it took me so long to extricate myself and find myself again."
Surviving Through Trauma
Griffiths expressed amazement at her own resilience during that difficult period of her life, questioning how she managed to maintain appearances while enduring such hardship. "I was marvelling that I was remembering things, thinking how did I survive it? I was still working, still cleaning the house, we still went out," she recalled.
The actress contrasted her past experiences with her current life, describing how different her circumstances are today. Now happily married, Griffiths acknowledged that she no longer lives in constant fear, though the memories remain powerful.
A New Chapter of Peace
"He was there, jolly. Now that my life is gentle and peaceful, and I'm not scared every minute of every day...sorry, it's just I go right back, that's what's so extraordinary and I'm myself again," she explained, becoming tearful during the conversation.
Griffiths expressed gratitude for her current circumstances, stating: "I'm living a life that's so beautiful. I love my home and my husband. There is no drama, I save it all for hurting people at work!"
The soap star concluded with an important message for viewers experiencing similar situations, pleading with them to remember that it is never their fault when they suffer abuse from a partner.
