A new BBC podcast, Stalked, recounts the decade-long ordeal of Hannah Mossman Moore, whose life was derailed by a relentless campaign of online abuse. The harassment began after she met a well-groomed Hong Kong national called Kin Hung during London Fashion Week in her early 20s. Initially, he posed as a friend and mentor, but over time, Hannah found herself trapped in a web of false narratives and threats.
The abuse included bombarding her phone with fake accounts, hacking her bank and phone accounts, and sending her photos of her mother's front door. Impersonators set up email accounts in her name, including one offering her sexual services. She received threats of violence and rape, and WhatsApp groups were created where a fake Hannah confessed to criminal activity.
Hannah went to the police with extensive evidence, but when officers attempted an arrest, the suspect was not at home, and the case was closed due to 'evidential difficulties'. The stalking continued unabated. Now, a decade later, the BBC podcast aims to solve the crime that the police failed to address, with producers Georgia Catt and Rob Byrne believing they are close to identifying the perpetrator.
