A violent thug who kidnapped a couple's pet chihuahua and locked the tiny dog in a suitcase during a terrifying robbery has been jailed for three years. Former soldier Shaun Docherty, 31, tied up dog owner James Connelly-Traynor before forcing his partner, Norman Connelly-Traynor, to drive to a cash machine and withdraw money. During the ordeal, Docherty told the couple he was holding their beloved pet, Liza, as 'collateral'. The court heard Docherty assaulted both victims before eventually returning the chihuahua, who was unharmed, and fleeing with cash and alcohol. At court, a sheriff described Docherty's actions as 'disturbing and appalling'.
Rapist Jailed for 16 Years Over Campaign of Violent and Sexual Abuse Against Four Women
Christopher Malcolm, a rapist who carried out a series of violent and sexual attacks against four women, has been jailed for 16 years. Malcolm was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday, July 17, and was also placed on the sex offenders register. The 16-year sentence follows his conviction in June, when a jury found him guilty of multiple offences, including rape and assault to injury and danger of life, after a trial at the same court. The court heard Malcolm subjected the four women to years of abuse in East Lothian and Elgin between 2010 and 2024.
