A 22-year-old man was arrested after allegedly groping and punching flight attendants on a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami on Saturday. Maxwell Berry, from Norwalk, Ohio, was restrained by fellow passengers and duct-taped to his seat for the remainder of the journey.
According to reports, Berry had two drinks on board and used his empty cup to touch a female crew member's backside. After spilling his third drink, he removed his shirt and walked around the cabin shirtless for 15 minutes before groping the chests of several female flight attendants.
When a male flight attendant intervened, Berry allegedly punched him in the face. Other passengers then subdued him, using duct tape to secure him to his seat. Video footage from passenger Alfredo Rivera shows Berry shouting obscenities and claiming his parents are worth "more than two million dollars."
Upon landing in Miami, Berry was handcuffed and taken to Miami-Dade County Jail, facing three counts of battery. Frontier Airlines confirmed that the flight crew involved have been suspended from flying pending an investigation.
The incident follows a similar case last month where a female passenger was taped to her seat on an American Airlines flight. The Federal Aviation Administration has reported a surge in unruly passenger behaviour, with over 2,500 reports since January, often related to mask mandates.
