Police are hunting a gang of five men after a passenger was slashed in the face and robbed on a London Underground train when he tried to help an elderly commuter being threatened.
Brave Intervention Leads to Violent Assault
The incident occurred on a Metropolitan Line train travelling towards Northwick Park station just before 11pm on Monday, 29 December. According to the British Transport Police (BTP), a group began threatening an elderly passenger on board the carriage.
A fellow passenger bravely stepped in to assist the elderly man. In response, the gang turned on the good Samaritan, assaulting him with a knife. The attack left the victim with a slash wound above his eyebrow.
Gang Flees with Victim's Belongings
After the assault, the group then fled the train at Northwick Park Underground station in Kenton. As they escaped, they stole the injured man's bag.
British Transport Police have now released images of five men they urgently wish to speak to in connection with the violent robbery. Detectives believe these individuals may have vital information about the attack.
