Royal Caribbean's new Icon class cruise ship, Legend of the Seas, has commenced sea trials in Turku, Finland, as it prepares for its upcoming launch. The vessel, which boasts an array of impressive features including six waterslides, is undergoing rigorous technical testing with over 2,000 engineers and specialists on board. The sea trials will cover approximately 2,400 nautical miles, ensuring the ship meets all operational standards before its debut.

Key Details of the Legend of the Seas

Scheduled to launch in July 2026, Legend of the Seas will be the third vessel in Royal Caribbean's Icon class. It will have the capacity to accommodate 5,610 guests and will weigh 250,800 gross tonnes. Notably, it will be the first Icon class ship to operate from the Mediterranean, with departures planned from Barcelona and Rome. Following its Mediterranean season, the ship will reposition to Fort Lauderdale for Caribbean itineraries.

Legend of the Seas will feature several unique attractions, including the Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a Royal Railway-themed immersive dining experience, and new dining destinations. These exclusive offerings are designed to enhance the guest experience and set this vessel apart from its predecessors.
