Initial Probe Concludes at Site of Fatal Waterford Air Crash
Irish authorities have finished their preliminary examination of the location where a light aircraft crashed, resulting in one fatality on the south-east coast of Ireland. The incident occurred near Lisselan, close to Tramore in County Waterford.
Emergency Response and Investigation Details
Emergency services, including rescue helicopters and An Garda Siochana, were dispatched to the scene after the twin-engined general aviation aircraft came down at approximately 12.50pm on Thursday, 20 November 2025.
The Department of Transport's Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) confirmed it deployed four air accident inspectors to the site. In an official statement, the unit reported it had concluded its initial on-site work by 9pm that evening.
According to the Irish police, it appears the victim was the sole occupant of the aircraft.
Ongoing Investigation and Local Reaction
The AAIU has stated it will return to the scene on Friday morning to arrange for the wreckage to be transported to its specialist examination facility located in Gormanston, County Meath.
Data from online flight-tracking services identified the aircraft involved as a privately owned Vulcanair P68C. The flight path data indicates the plane was travelling from Sligo to Beziers in France before it turned around off the southern Irish coast, heading back towards Waterford Airport prior to the crash.
Sinn Fein TD for Waterford, David Cullinane, expressed that the crash has sent a shock through the local community. He added that the area's thoughts are with the individual who was on the plane.
