Glasgow trains cancelled this weekend amid rail works

Train services between Glasgow Central Station and Paisley Gilmour Street will be cancelled this weekend as engineering works close some lines. Replacement buses will be provided for customers on Saturday and Sunday.

Disruption on Ayrshire and Inverclyde routes

Delays are also expected on routes between Glasgow and Ayr, Ardrossan Harbour, Largs, Wemyss Bay and Gourock. Passengers in the area have been advised to allow extra time for journeys and to double-check schedules before travelling.

Fife electrification works

Separately, engineering works are taking place in Fife between Saturday and Tuesday. Where possible, trains will run on alternative routes, and replacement buses will serve impacted stations.

The Fife works are part of a £311.5 million Scottish Government investment to electrify 118km of railway across the region and introduce new battery-electric trains, aiming to deliver quieter, more sustainable journeys for customers.

Mark Ilderton, ScotRail Service Delivery Director, said: “This is the next important phase of the work to electrify the railway through Fife, and it will mean significant changes to services for customers travelling through the area. We’ll keep people moving wherever possible, with trains running on alternative routes and replacement buses serving impacted stations.”

“The travel arrangements change at different stages throughout the works, so we’re asking customers to check their journey before setting off and allow some extra time to travel. We appreciate everyone’s patience while this important investment in Scotland’s Railway continues,” he added.
