Wizz Air has launched the UK's only direct flight to Yerevan, Armenia, known as the 'pink city', with fares starting from £45.99. The budget airline's new route from London Luton Airport began on 9 June and operates twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays throughout the year.
The flight takes just over five hours, offering travellers access to a destination famous for its rose-hued stone architecture, tree-lined boulevards, and lively public squares. Yerevan is rich in history, featuring historic monasteries, museums, galleries, markets, and a thriving café culture.
British holidaymakers can visit Armenia without a visa for up to 180 days per year, making it an attractive option. Wizz Air pilot Tom Copestake expressed excitement about flying into Yerevan, surrounded by big mountains, calling it a new and interesting experience.
Expanding Horizons
Yvonne Moynihan, Managing Director of Wizz Air UK, said: 'Today marks an exciting moment as we launch the UK’s only direct route to Armenia, opening up a destination that remains largely undiscovered by British travellers. We're committed to making travel more accessible and helping customers explore beyond the obvious.'
She added that the response to their 'Let's Get Lost' campaign showed a real appetite among travellers to step outside their comfort zones and discover new destinations. 'We're proud to be making Armenia more accessible than ever before,' she said.
Airport Partnership
Alberto Martin, CEO of London Luton Airport, welcomed the new service: 'We are delighted to welcome Wizz Air's new service to Yerevan, marking the UK’s first direct link to Armenia and further strengthening our increasingly diverse route network. This unique city in the South Caucasus offers a fascinating cultural scene of contrasts to suit all tastes.'
The addition of Yerevan reinforces the long-standing partnership with Wizz Air and signals the airport's commitment to offering greater choice as part of a simple and friendly passenger experience.
