US Influencer's Brutally Honest Australia Review: 'A Slow Burn'
US Influencer's Brutally Honest Australia Holiday Review

An American social media star with millions of followers has delivered a brutally honest and largely negative review of her holiday experience in Australia, sparking conversation online.

An Unimpressed Visitor

Blair Walnuts, a 30-year-old lifestyle content creator from the US, has spent several weeks travelling around Australia. Despite staying in plush accommodation like the Mantra Crown Towers in Surfers Paradise, her verdict was far from glowing. Taking to Instagram, she confessed that trying to enjoy the country felt like "a slow burn like a guy who's been grovelling in your DMs for five years and doesn't get the hint."

Listing the Grievances

Walnuts, who boasts 1.3 million YouTube subscribers, did not hold back in detailing her frustrations. Her main complaints included:

  • The confusing time zone difference from the US.
  • Australia's notorious wildlife, which she labelled "certified opps," joking that the same fly had stalked her since Perth.
  • Unfavourable weather during her visit.
  • Slow parcel delivery, noting that an order with promised one-day shipping took two weeks to arrive.

"The weather is not doing me any favours," she complained in her post.

Advice for Fellow Travellers

Following her scathing assessment, Walnuts offered some blunt advice to her followers. "First world problems, but like, if you're going to fly all the way here, maybe also visit somewhere else," she wrote. In a later comment that seemed to contradict her earlier weather complaints, she added, "Lmaooo. I just want a sunny day, calm water and white sand."

The influencer, known for comedic vlogs and her podcast 'The Distrust Fund' with Mia Maples, commands a huge audience across platforms, including 668,000 Instagram followers and 1.5 million on TikTok. She is also the founder of the haircare brand Love Orie.

In a 2023 TikTok revelation, Walnuts disclosed she had spent around $10,000 on cosmetic procedures, including breast augmentation and rhinoplasty, and approximately $2,000 monthly on hair maintenance.
