Shocking images have emerged of a group of teenagers sitting on the edge of the crumbling Seven Sisters cliffs in East Sussex, dangling their legs over a 300ft drop. The reckless behaviour was captured on camera by photographer Patrick Goff, who spotted the group from nearly a mile away across the river near his home in Seaford.
Mr Goff, who branded the teenagers 'idiots', took the photographs on Saturday and shared them on social media as a warning. He told MailOnline: 'To see a group of youngsters, presumably unsupervised, sitting on the edge of the crumbly chalk cliff, stopped me cold.' He added that local people are cautious near cliff edges due to numerous fatalities from both suicides and accidental falls.
The Seven Sisters cliffs are notorious for rock falls, eroding into the sea at a rate of 10ft a year, making fencing impractical. The local coastguard team is reportedly 'constantly' called out to rescue walkers or pets who fall victim to the unstable edge. Nearby Beachy Head is one of the UK's most infamous suicide spots, with around 20 deaths annually.
Fortunately, none of the teenagers were injured during their dangerous antics. Mr Goff said: 'Thrillseekers like these need to judge the thrill against a shorter life.'
