The body of a man has been discovered in the landing gear of a plane that landed at Gatwick Airport from Morocco. The tragic find occurred on Tuesday morning following the arrival of an Air Arabia Maroc flight. Emergency services were summoned to the scene around 11:45 am after the discovery in the aircraft's undercarriage.
Investigation Launched
It is believed that the man concealed himself in the landing gear of the Airbus A320 before the aircraft departed from Tangier. Sussex Police have initiated an investigation into the incident. The identity of the man has not yet been released.
A Sussex Police spokesperson stated: 'Police were alerted after the body of a man was found in the undercarriage of an aircraft at Gatwick Airport, arriving from Tangier, at approximately 11:45 am on Tuesday, June 16. Officers are conducting inquiries, and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.'
Airport Response
A representative from West Sussex Airport commented: 'A body was discovered, and our teams have been supporting Sussex Police and the coroner. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.'
The incident has prompted a full investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
