Prince William, like many members of the Royal Family, has a preferred travel companion: a Globe-Trotter suitcase. The British luxury luggage brand, established in 1897, has been a royal favourite for decades. Queen Elizabeth herself used a Globe-Trotter case on her honeymoon in 1947, and the late Princess Diana followed suit for her honeymoon with Prince Charles.
The Duke of Cambridge and his wife, Catherine, each own a 21-inch trolley case and a 33-inch extra deep suitcase from the limited edition Goring Hotel collection. The collection is named after the London hotel where the Duchess stayed the night before her wedding in 2011. Each case is lined with Gainsborough silk, the same material used in the Royal Suite at the Goring Hotel.
Even Prince George and Princess Charlotte are said to have miniature versions of the suitcases. However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not known to favour the brand.
To keep their luggage distinct, the royals use coloured tags: Prince William’s is red, while the Duchess’s is yellow. This simple system ensures their belongings are easily identifiable during trips.
