Jessica Battison, visiting from the North West of England, camped near Rhoshirwaun and explored the coast. Her first stop was Porth Iago, a west-facing cove on the Wales Coast Path. The beach, part campsite, has a 4.7-star rating on Google, with visitors calling it 'stunning' and 'peaceful'.
Driving down winding lanes, Battison felt like she was in a teen movie—until she arrived at a barren farmyard with shacks and abandoned tractors. After a moment of panic, a farmer helped her exchange a £10 note for coins to pay the parking fee.
Descending a narrow lane, the sea appeared beyond a field dotted with caravans. Battison gasped at the view: grass-topped cliffs hugging a long stretch of sand, with gentle waves in a magical cove. At 11am, the beach was nearly empty, with only one other family present.
Having lived in Australia from 2019 to 2020, Battison posted photos on Instagram with location tags like Tamarama Beach in Sydney. An Australian friend commented: 'Not gonna lie I definitely had to do a double take.'
