Oceania Cruises Renovates Ship Into Oceania Aurelia

Oceania Cruises is set to transform one of its older vessels into a luxurious world cruiser, with a comprehensive refurbishment and a new name. The ship, currently known as Oceania Nautica, will undergo a significant overhaul as part of the OceaniaNEXT fleet upgrade programme, emerging as Oceania Aurelia by late 2027.

Revamp Details and New Name

The culinary-focused luxury cruise line announced plans to refurbish Oceania Nautica, which has been part of the fleet since 2005 and last saw upgrades in 2022. The ship will enter dry dock for extensive renovations, emerging with a fresh look and a new identity: Oceania Aurelia. This transformation is designed to prepare the vessel for world cruises starting in 2028.

Capacity and Suite Enhancements

Once complete, Oceania Aurelia will welcome fewer than 500 guests, a reduction from its current capacity of around 670, while maintaining a crew of 400 officers and staff. The ship will feature 179 suites out of 238 total cabins, all with dedicated butler service. These include remastered Owner's, Vista, and Penthouse Suites, along with new additions such as Oceania Suites, Horizon Suites, Oceanview, and Inside Suites.

Dining and Onboard Experiences

Guests can enjoy menus inspired by the regions visited in beloved venues like The Grand Dining Room, Polo Grill, Toscana, Terrace Cafe, Waves Grill, and the Pizzeria. New experiences include mixology sessions at the Founders Bar and cooking workshops in the Chef's Studio. All passengers will have unlimited access to the Aquamar Spa Terrace.

Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Oceania Cruises, described the new ship as "our ultimate world explorer," designed for guests seeking more space, suites, and personalized service on extended journeys. He added that Oceania Aurelia will offer a smaller, club-like atmosphere, making travellers feel at home while fostering deeper connections with the ports they visit.
