Traveller's Disappointment at Jamie Oliver's Airport Full English Breakfast in Spain
Jamie Oliver's Airport Breakfast Leaves Traveller 'Very Sad'

A popular lifestyle content creator has shared his profound disappointment after sampling a full English breakfast at one of Jamie Oliver's airport eateries in Spain, describing the experience as "very very sad."

High Hopes Dashed at Malaga Airport

Just Deano, a content creator who documents his travels and culinary experiences, had been enjoying a week of authentic Spanish cuisine in Malaga after securing what he called the "UK's cheapest Ryanair flight." As his holiday drew to a close and he prepared to return home, he found himself craving a proper British breakfast and decided to visit Jamie's Deli at Malaga airport.

The Jamie Oliver Group website promotes the chain with the promise of "Helping people on-the-go eat well by dishing up beautifully fresh food, fast." However, Deano's expectations were quickly deflated when his €13.45 (approximately £11.67) breakfast arrived in a takeaway box, looking far from the fresh, appetising meal he had anticipated.

A Detailed Dissection of Disappointment

Deano began his review by holding the meal up to the camera, remarking, "This is the breakfast. Jamie Oliver's famous breakfast. What do you think of that? Looks a bit dead doesn't it?" The meal included a cup of tea and what he described as an "unbelievable" orange juice, but he was taken aback by an additional charge of 50 cents for milk with his breakfast tea.

Starting with the scrambled eggs, which initially appeared soft and fluffy, Deano's first bite revealed them to be underdone. "Oh... It is a bit underdone for me," he said. "I don't know if it's just my old microwave techniques but, yeah, that's a little bit underdone. Quite a nice flavour but yeah..."

His disappointment deepened when he examined the bacon. Sighing, he lamented, "That bacon, on an English breakfast, by Jamie Oliver, I'm sad to see that this is the bacon. That makes me very very sad." He found it lacking in both flavour and saltiness, a particular letdown given the English chef's association with the dish.

Mixed Elements and Final Verdict

There were a few redeeming features. The large tomato was acceptable, and the mushrooms, though appearing overcooked at first glance, turned out to be quite tasty. Deano also conceded he might have been "a bit unfair" before trying the sausages, which he approved as "proper English sausages" with a "decent" taste.

However, the toast arrived without butter and proved too tough to break in half, leading him to abandon it entirely. Summing up the experience, Deano remarked, "Yeah, not the best. But you could probably pay £12.95 for an orange juice and a cup of tea in an airport, couldn't you?"

Further Frustration with Flight Delay

To compound matters, moments after finishing his review, Deano received a notification that his flight had been delayed by an hour. Expressing his frustration, he said, "Well that was ok... however, I've just got the notification saying my flight has been delayed by an hour. Oh my God. So now I've got nearly four hours in this airport. If I had known that, I would have gone and paid for the lounge and not paid for the breakfast."

Mixed Reactions from the Public

Following the video's publication online, reactions from viewers were decidedly mixed. One unimpressed commenter stated, "God almighty Deano, that Jamie Oliver breakfast was dire!" Another questioned the celebrity chef's involvement entirely, saying, "I'll be willing to bet that Jamie Oliver has never even stepped foot in there." A third added with resignation, "Overpriced mediocre breakfast, but what isn't at airports?"

Conversely, recent visitors to the same outlet have shared positive experiences on platforms like TripAdvisor. One customer named Peter praised the service, writing, "Marey Kate's smile sold everything! Food was great value (for an airport) quickly and effectively delivered with minimal fuss but personal touch still felt!" Another satisfied diner noted, "I am positively surprised to find this 'healthier' fast food at the airport. The food is varied, the staff very friendly and the cleanliness tip-top!"

A further glowing review stated, "Fantastic food and service just like you would expect from the great man himself. We did have some reservations after hearing negative feedback from our friend Robert, but how wrong he is. Keep up the good work Jamie and thanks again!"

The Jamie Oliver Group was approached for comment regarding the critical review but has not yet issued a public statement. The incident highlights the often polarising nature of airport dining experiences, where expectations of quality and value can vary widely among travellers.
