Aldi Australia to Revive Popular Snow Gear Sale After Pandemic Hiatus

Aldi Australia is set to bring back its annual snow gear sale on Saturday, May 22, after cancelling the event in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions. The sale, which typically draws large crowds, will feature a range of winter apparel designed for extreme weather conditions, suitable for destinations from The Alps to The Snowy Mountains.

The adult collection includes six varieties of snow jackets, priced from $39.99 for a light knit jacket to $119.99 for a superior windproof, waterproof, and breathable shell jacket with a removable inner layer. Four types of snow pants are available at $99.99 each, featuring waterproof finishes, pre-shaped knees, and adjustable waistbands. For children aged two to 14, there are five jacket styles ranging from $19.99 to $34.99, along with snow pants at $29.99.

Other winter items include waterproof thermoboots with fleece lining for adults and kids ($19.99 to $29.99), helmets from $19.99, and accessories such as face masks, beanies, neck warmers, socks, and gloves priced between $4.99 and $34.99. The sale has historically been a major event, with previous years seeing shoppers queuing for hours and occasionally engaging in physical altercations over discounted gear.

Aldi had cancelled the 2020 sale to prioritise essential grocery transport amid travel bans, promising a return in 2021. The upcoming event marks the first snow gear sale since the pandemic began, and the retailer expects high demand based on past popularity.
