When it comes to comfort food, a traditional Sunday roast is hard to beat. In Cardiff, The Heathcock pub in Llandaff is serving up some of the best Sunday lunches you'll find, according to a recent review.
The pub, previously deemed one of the best dining pubs by a top chef, offers a seasonal menu with plenty of choice. The reviewer, who visited to beat the January blues, found the pub still bustling and the food as excellent as ever.
Starters included house sausage and venison fritters, the latter described as crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. For the main, the duck leg was tender and fell off the bone, paired with homemade duck fat roast potatoes. A portion of cauliflower cheese is a must—creamy, indulgent, and finished with a crispy topping.
The meal ended with a pear soufflé, the chef's signature pudding, which had an impeccable rise and was paired with spiced ice cream. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with board games for children and adults, making it a charming Cardiff gem.
